We will be sending a fundraising letter to all members of the party.  Members can donate on their own by writing a check to Maryland Green Party - Harford County and sending it HGCP, P.O. Box 1721, Bel Air, MD 21014.

We discussed the Maryland Green Party's action items.  On the matter of allocating the money raised by the new MGP fundraising efforts, one-half of the meeting supported the proposal as written (allocating money to the maintenance of the office, Maryland Green Party locals and a candidate's fund, in thirds).  One half of those present supported amending the proposal to allow donors to allocate funds according to their specific needs.

November 1, 2006

In attendance: Mike Schapiro, Shanna Borell, Brian Bittner, James Townsend, Michael Lentowski, Janet Baer, Paul Baer,
Sam Skiles

We discussed action items from the Coordinating Council.

To define "active members," the group agreed that a broad definition that allows for multiple ways to contribute
to Locals is best.

Members were asked to contact Brian to volunteer for any standing committees at the state level.

We discussed legislative items we would like to pursue in 2007. Suggestions included expanding recycling programs,
either by pushing for mandatory programs or looking for ways to increase economic incentives for voluntary recycling.
Public transportation is a priority - we should suggest ways to increase bus lines and bike lanes. Electoral reforms
we are interested in pursuing include instant runoff voting and increasing measures for ballot security, such as a
verifiable paper trail.

We discussed new ways for spreading our message. We are interested in coordinating letter-writing, media contact, and
spreading our agenda to other groups. We discussed starting a Campus Greens group at Harford Community College.

We discussed our electoral agenda for 2007. Members agreed that running candidates in municipal elections in
Bel Air, Havre de Grace and Aberdeen is a good idea. Prospective candidates are asked to make their interest known.

The importance of completing our petition drive was noted. Craig Herud turned in petitions he had collected.

We discussed ways to raise funds. We are looking to produce CDs of Green appearances in interviews and on the radio
for distribution. We will attempt to produce these cheaply and solicit donations. We also discussed selling items
such as fair trade products and Green Bags.

We discussed future meeting times. It was agreed that the first of every month is a preferred meeting time. It is
easy to plan ahead for and the day of the week will change every month, accommodating people who cannot make meetings
on certain days.
